Caption Contest: Results

The moment you’ve all undoubtedly been waiting for is finally here, it’s time to announce the winner of the last month’s caption contest.

As you may recall, the contest was to come up with the best caption—as voted on by you, My Faithful Readers—for the nearly 15-year-old cartoon from an episode of Seinfeld.

The response was tepid at best, but the submissions were pretty good.

As promised, the winner received a prize pack consisting of random things found in my apartment.

Here is a quick look at the prizes.

What you see here is a copy of my favorite book, Stephen King’s The Stand, with the—um—“collector’s edition” cover featuring Molly Ringwald and Lieutenant Dan who starred in the less-than-stellar made-for-TV miniseries produced in the early ‘90s.

Additionally, there’s an MIT Libraries carabineer and—because I’ve received this as a gift on numerous occasions—some bacon floss.

Not a bad prize pack, huh?

Well, it gets even better when you learn that the book is autographed!!

Admittedly, it’s autographed by me and includes a special note to the contest winner. It also includes Stephen King’s signature—as horrendously forged by yours truly—in the back cover.

Seriously, who knew that the cursive “S” was such a hard letter to write?!

Anyway…without any further ado here are the voting results:

And your winner with a total eight votes is John Kunkel!

Here’s John making the most of his new prizes.

And here’s John geeking out at the official(ly forged) Stephen King autograph in the back of the book!!

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the contest.

Hopefully, we can do one of these again in the future and I can offer a prize substantial enough to drum up a little bit more interest.
