Will Ferrell Likes Iowa and Shitty Beer

Will Ferrell is an interesting dude.

I’m not always his biggest fan, in fact, most of the time I find him to be obnoxious and overbearing whenever he opens his mouth.

I think that Anchorman, Talladega Nights and Stranger Than Fiction will always hold a special place in my heart, but for the most part—unless it’s a small role (see: Zoolander)—I find him largely insufferable and can’t stand his work.

That may, however, be changing as Ferrell recently shot a series of surprisingly entertaining ads for—of all things—Old Milwaukee beer.

Ferrell apparently wasn’t hired to do the commercials either. The dude actually went out of his way and approached the folks at Pabst Brewing about filming a series of commercials for the, um, less-than-highbrow brew.

It was also Ferrell’s call to film the commercials in Davenport, Iowa. Oh yeah, and he wanted to do it for free.

I guess when you get rich and famous enough, you just get bored or something and these are the types of things that get the creative juices flowing.

Ferrell asked the folks at Pabst if he could come up with the ideas for the commercials and—unsurprisingly—they were onboard with the whole thing. I’m assuming the fact that he was doing it for free probably helped make that decision much, much easier.

The ads are currently only slated to run locally in Davenport, but given that the internet, well, exists…it seems pretty obvious these were intended to go viral and figure to do just that.
