Spring Survey

I figured it’s been awhile since I filled out one of these random survey/questionnaire things…so why not bust one out on the first day of Spring!!

So without any further ado…here are 50 Random Questions and my equally random answers to accompany them!!

1. What time did you get up this morning?

Technically…I first woke up at like 1:40am under the assumption it was more like 6:30ish…and I wandered into the bathroom to shower and whatnot and then snuck a peek at the clock and realized I had another six hours or so of sweet, sweet slumber ahead of me.

The second time I got up it was like 7:30 and I was far less excited about the prospect of removing myself from my blanket-laden cocoon.

ss_0012. How do you like your steak?

I guess I’d go with medium. It always seems like the best of both worlds…kinda like a twist ice cream cone.

Honestly, I don’t eat a whole lot of steak. I guess I’ve just never been a real big “steak guy.”

Perhaps this is a result of growing up on a pig farm…so I’m definitely a pork kinda guy. In fact, I have steak getting eliminated by veal in the second round of the Meaty March Madness and I have bacon winning the whole thing!!

3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema?

The last movie I saw in the theater would have been Jennifer Aniston’s “He’s Just Not That Into You.”

4. What is your favorite current TV show?

Tough call…I guess topping the list would probably be “How I Met Your Mother.” I can’t help but think that if I were to right a television show…that is exactly the show I’d write.

After that it’s a three-way tie between “Family Guy,” “Heroes” and “The Office.” Everything after that is just sorta white noise…except for baseball that is.

5. What did you have for breakfast?

Two glazed donuts from Dunkin’ Donuts, a half-gallon of 1% milk, a RockStar and a Mountain Dew!!

6. What is your middle name?

Jeremiah Awesome Graves

7. What is your favorite cuisine?

8. What foods do you dislike?

Peanut butter…me and PB are not friends.

9. What is your favorite chip?

It varies a lot…depending on what I’m craving…but lately my fave is the jalapeno Kettle Cooked chips. Those things are f’n awesome!!

10. What is your favorite dressing?

I like to rock the ranch. That’s some good stuff right there. Plus—along with tons of bacon—it gives my salad that “fatty” type of taste that and feel that I love!

11. What kind of vehicle do you drive?

I don’t really drive anything anymore. Out here on the ole east coast I’m a public transportation and walking kinda guy. Which to be perfectly honest is kinda nice. I pay $30/month for unlimited public transportation as opposed to paying for gas, parking, insurance and upkeep. Me likey.

12. What are your favorite clothes?

As I’ve blogged about previously I’m a comfort kinda guy. I like jeans, t-shirts and my comfy shoes.

I also have a tendency to wear a hat of some sort. I dig hats. They hide my rapidly balding head.

13. If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you go?

That’s a tough call. I realize I’m supposed to say some sort of fancy far away destination, but honestly that doesn’t really do it for me. Personally I’d be plenty happy to travel to Memphis for some BBQ or to San Diego to watch the Padres play ball. There’s a whole big bunch of the US I’ve never seen…and I guess I don’t know what I’d go to Italy or Russia or China to see.

14. Cup 1/2 empty or 1/2 full?

Doesn’t really matter…odds are pretty good I’m gonna drink it.

15. Where would you want to retire?

Retire?! Let’s be honest folks…I’m 25 in a failing economy…retirement is the absolute last thing on my mind. Heck, odds are I’ll never, ever be able to retire.

If I could though…I’d want to retire to some place with a baseball team and good BBQ.

16. Favorite time of day?

ss_002Um?! I don’t really know…quittin’ time I guess.

17. Where were you born?

Ah yes…Sheldon, Iowa…the place of my birth into the world at 8:26am on December 5, 1983. Write that down and remember that I enjoy gifts!!

18. What is your favorite sport to watch?

I’m going to safely go ahead and say baseball on this one. Hands down.

19. Favorite Energy Drink: RockStar or Red Bull?

20. Favorite Crappy Beer: Budweiser or Miller?

I guess between those two I’d go with Bud, but my fave has become Coors. Not sure why.

21. Favorite Soda-Pop: Pepsi or Coke?

Coke in a landslide!!! Pepsi tastes funny and makes my teeth all squeaky.

22. Bird watcher?

Oh I watch ‘em…because I don’t trust those dirty winged devils!! I’ve ranted and raved about my disdain for birds previously and I stick by my assessment!!

Birds suck.

23. Are you a morning person or a night person?

Both, I guess. The first part of waking up totally blows. Once I’m actually up and at’em, however, I’m good to go and often with far more energy than my body should allow. Nights are also good. I can be quite the night owl if given the opportunity.

24. Do you have any pets?

I don’t have any pets out here in Boston. My kitten Tom S. Katt is still living at my parent’s place in Hartley. I think he’s gotta be…holy crap, like 15 years old now or something. Needless to say he is quite temperamental.

25. Any new and exciting news you’d like to share?

Uh…not really?! I don’t know what you’re kind of information you’re looking for here, Random Survey.

26. What did you want to be when you were little?

I went through a bunch of phases before I found the perfect fit. At some point I wanted to be: a cowboy, a wrestler, a farmer, a teacher, a writer, a comedian, an actor, a food taster, a baseball player and/or an astronaut (for like twenty minutes in fifth grade).

Eventually I realized all I really wanted to be was happy. So far so good.

27. What is your best childhood memory?

Tough call…um, I think—and this may sound SUPER redneck—but I think that going out for “pickup rides” was probably one of my favorite things to do. Mama and Pappy would load us boys in the back of the pickup and they’d sit up front and we’d just drive around the countryside riding in the back of the truck. It sounds super simple and awfully hillbilly-esque…but it was a lot of fun back then.

28. Shots or Mixed Drinks?

Eeeeep…I can’t hold real liquor for anything. I tend to get SUPER drunk, SUPER fast on the real stuff. That’s why I’m more of a beer-dude, I guess I’d go with mixed drinks though. You really can’t beat a good Long Island Iced Tea or a ss_003Liquid Cocaine.

29. Beer or Margarita?

Yowza, both are really, really good. In the summer both should be available at the end of the day. I guess I go with beer a lot more often though, so it’s going to take the win on this one.

30. Always wear your seat belt?

I can safely say that my life was saved by a seat belt on at least one occasion if not many more. So I’m a big proponent of the seat belt. It drives me f’n batty when my little brother refuses to wear one because he thinks he’s too f’n cool for life-saving devices. Sometime he’s kind of a tool.

31. Been in a car accident?

Yes, I’ve been in a few of these in my day. One really bad one and a bunch of minor incidents…I still drive like a grandma on gravel roads as a result.

Note: I haven’t been driving in ANY of the accidents, b/c I rock!!

32. Favorite Restaurant?

Hmmmmm….can I say Taco John’s?! Yeah…I think I can. It’s restaurant(ish).

33. Favorite Movie?

Tough call. I really like “Field of Dreams” and “Bull Durham”…the original “Batman” is one of my faves despite how ridiculous it is by modern standards.

34. Favorite Flower?

Um…Tulips?! Daisies?! Sunflowers?! I guess I don’t really know…I’ve never taken the time to pick a favorite flower. I’ll let my Faithful Readers decide. The first person to reply with a type of flower to be my favorite wins.

UPDATE: Dana was the first one to comment and as a result my favorite flower from this day foward shall be the zinnia!!

35. Favorite ice cream?

OH!!! The stuff I had in Maine!! It was vanilla ice cream with chocolate swirls and little chocolate cups filled with caramel. It was so f’n good.

36. Favorite fast food restaurant?

37. How many times did you fail your driver’s test?

Fail the Drivers Test?! You’re kidding right…

38. From whom did you get your last email?

Lemme check…my last work email come from Ms. Roshni Gohil…she over the overnight shifts.

In my personal emails it seems that baseball is the theme of the day.

Hotmail =

Gmail = National Fantasy Baseball Championship

39. Which store would you choose to max out your credit card?

That’s tough, perhaps Target or Wal-Mart because I could get the most stuff; although I could go absolutely crazy in a sporting goods store. Tough call on this one…perhaps a Best Buy or something so I could fancy-up my electronics.

40. Bedtime?

Pfffffttt….depends on many-a-factor.

Some nights there is zero chance of me getting to sleep.

Some nights I wake up super early for no good reason…even if I tried to pass out and get a good night’s sleep.

Some nights I go into bed and pass out by 9:30…so it’s weird. It’s just plain weird.

41. Who are you most curious about their responses to this?

Um, I guess whomever reads it…I’ve been quite pleased to see I’ve got a rather large and growing fan-base here at “Blank Stares at Blank Pages.” The comments section has been booming lately and assuming people weren’t completely turned off by the fact that I gave Jenna Jameson some pixel space…I assume there’ll be a decent amount of comments to the overall randomness that is a post like this.

42. Your house is on fire, what do you grab on your way out?

I’m going to go ahead and say I’d grab Grace. Everything else can be replaced.

ss_00443. Without your cell-phone how many numbers do you actually know?

Let’s see that’s a toughie…I know Grace’s number—because it’s one digit away from mine. I know I know Johnny’s because it hasn’t changed since the day he got a phone and because it’s a Kunkel number, it’s easy to remember. I know Ryan’s number because he calls me at work on Saturdays all the time so it pops up on the caller ID.

That might be it.

I also know my little brother’s number, because before I got a new phone out here…we used to have numbers that were just two digits apart and I know my parent’s home phone number.

That is probably it.

44. Last person you went out to dinner with?

Grace and I had us some delicious Chinese on…um…Monday, I think it was.

45. What are you listening to right now?

The lovely Ms. Bethanie Edwards is typing away in her cube. Other than that it’s pretty quiet.

46. What is your favorite color?

47. How many tattoos do you have?

Zero and that’s the way it should remain.

48. How many piercings do you have?

Zero and that’s the way it should remain.

49. What time did you finish this quiz?

1:38pm (Eastern Standard Time)

50. Coffee drinker?

I loved the occasional iced coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts in the summer. I get it with tons of sugar, cream, milk and the vanilla squirty flavor goo so that it really doesn’t taste like coffee…because let’s be honest…coffee isn’t all that good.

  1. Your favorite flower should be the zinnia. Just because.

  2. …and there it is.

From this day forward my favorite flower shall be the ZINNIA!!!

    Thank you to Dana!

  3. 35 = moosetracks?
