Taylor Swift is pretty freakin’ awesome.
Long story short, I think she’s a swell gal.
As far as I can tell, I’m not alone in this sentiment as most people who have met her—aside from those who have dated her and ultimately been castigated in song—say she’s an incredibly genuine, caring, and down-to-earth person.
She lived up to that reputation in a big way today by making a sizeable donation to fund music education.
Here are the details courtesy of MTV.com:
The six-time Grammy winner has donated $4 million to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville to fund what will now be known as the Taylor Swift Education Center, an exhibit and classroom space scheduled to open in 2014.
The planned education center will be more than 7,500 square feet spread over two stories. It will have its own exterior entrance that will lead to three classrooms and exhibit space. The expansion will allow the museum to dramatically increase its youth education programs.
The center will also give the museum the opportunity to add new programs and workshops for teens and senior citizens.
If you didn’t have a crush on her before, welcome to the team.
Now I realize this is an obvious setup for a joke about how teaching kids about music will only help them figure out that her music is just repackaged bubble-gum pop for a new generation, but I’m not going to make that joke.
I’ve listened to “Mean” enough times to know that you don’t mock Taylor.
…or she’ll make you pay, likely with a scathing song that tops the charts and goes on and on about what a douche-bag you were to her once upon a time.
