Following my mini-burger marathon in June, I set a personal rule that I wouldn’t eat another burger until I finally caught up on the Cheeseburger Chronicles, which had long since fallen behind.
That failed.
That failed miserably.
I held out pretty good for a few weeks until I flew home for the Fourth of July. My buddy Craiggers and I have been talking about going for an infamous “Juicy Lucy for probably two years now, but the opportunity has never presented itself.
On this particular day all the planets aligned and it was time for a Juicy Lucy…
Cheeseburger #067
What: Juicy Lucy
When: July 2, 2010
Where: 5-8 Club (Minneapolis, MN)
How (was it): I can’t lie, I was a little let down with the burger.
Don’t get me wrong, it was an amazing burger. It was super juicy and flavorful. The cheese in the middle was an awesome bonus, but it sorta let me down anyway.
The burger didn’t come with anything on it. No tomatoes, no lettuce, no onion, no nothing. I had to slather it in ketchup (and some coleslaw—don’t ask) to spice it up a little bit.
The burger itself was great, but after nearly two years of build-up, I guess I was expecting it to make my face explode and baby unicorns emerge from within to bless the world with their total awesomeness.
That didn’t happen.
My face stayed intact. There were no baby unicorns to be seen. The world will continue to settle for the awesomeness that I provide.
The burger, however, was pretty darn good.
